Are Virtual Office Address Services Worth It?

Could Your Business Benefit From a Virtual Address?

Virtual office address services aren't ideal (or necessary) for all businesses, but they do have a number of compelling benefits. From prestige to ease, here's why virtual office services can be a worthwhile investment for some small businesses.

What is a virtual address service?

Virtual addresses are one of the many offerings that virtual offices provide. When you subscribe to a virtual address service, your business gets its own address at the virtual office’s physical location.

You can send and receive mail and packages, and many offices even have full-time reception staff who handle mail. When you swing by to pick up your mail, it’ll be right there waiting for you.

What are the benefits of virtual addresses?

Virtual addresses are an affordable and flexible way to get a professional business address without a traditional commercial lease. You can bundle virtual office space (like a private office) with an address, but membership to office space isn’t a requirement.

Affordability and convenience are two of the top benefits for most businesses, but they aren’t the only perks. Here are some additional examples of how a virtual address can make running your business a bit easier:

  • Build a better local presence. Using a professional, local address suggests that your business is part of the community.
  • Foster trust. When your business looks more established, prospects and customers alike will trust it more.
  • Enhance professionalism. Some small business owners opt to use their home address, which isn’t what we recommend (more on that later). A dedicated business address is far more professional.
  • Elevate the business’s prestige. Many virtual offices are located within prestigious commercial areas. That means you can tap reap the benefits of the building’s name (without needing to sign a full lease).
  • Access to additional services. Because virtual addresses are associated with virtual offices, members have easy access to additional services to help grow their businesses. Virtual assistants, a variety of different types of office space, meeting room rentals, and so much more are all available under one roof. It’s the best way for businesses of any size to gain access to a full suite of professional amenities.

If those benefits make a virtual address seem worthwhile, consider researching for virtual address services in your area. If you still think using a home address makes sense, keep reading, because that’s what we’re going to talk about next.

Can I use my home address for my business?

Yes, you certainly can use your home address for your business. Plenty of small business owners do so, and their businesses continue to thrive.

However, with a virtual address, you never need to worry about the risks of using your home address on invoices, business cards, and other materials. It’s (somewhat) easier to separate your work life from your home life when all business correspondence is being sent to the office.

Additionally, some HOAs and leases have restrictions on running a business out of your home. If you live somewhere with a strict HOA or landlord, it never hurts to check the rules.
