Described as the company's biggest release yet, Apple's newest software has some improved features for busy professionals.

If you're focused on enhancing productivity and streamlining daily operations, learn some key functionalities that make iOS 10 good for business.

Improved Security

Now that tablets and smartphones are directly linked to everyday business operations, security has become a major concern. In turn, Apple has infused iOS 10 with the most advanced security of any mobile operating system. New privacy features require permission if an app in photos, reminders, calendar or contacts asks for personal data or location info. Facetime and iMessage conversations have also been encrypted, and Touch ID ensures that prying eyes are kept at bay.

Improved Virtual Assistant

Siri is now able to control third-party apps, meaning developers can incorporate the virtual assistant into their apps at will. This big change opens the door for major strides in productivity, as users are able to initiate Skype calls and access work apps using simple voice commands.

Seamless Large File Sharing

Many small business owners struggle to send large files from outside the office due to email server limitations. With AirDrop, users can now send large files wirelessly, whether they're at the corner coffee shop or rushing through an airport terminal.

Enhanced Compatibility

The new iOS 10 provides improved continuity between devices, thanks to some long-overdue compatibility upgrades. Now, users can use iOS in conjunction with Apple devices, such as iPod touch 6th generation; iPad mini 2; iPad mini 3; iPad mini 4; iPad 4th generation; iPad Air; iPad Air 2; iPad Pro 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch; iPhone 5s, 5c, 5; iPhone SE; iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus; and iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. What's more, it's now much easier to switch to iOS on your Android device, thanks to the Move to iOS app, which supports all tablets and phones running Android 4.0 and later.

Split-view in Safari

The single tab Safari limitation used to frustrate business owners who regularly work on an iPad Pro. With this latest iOS update, users can now open two Safari tabs simultaneously.

More Surprises to Come

Notorious for guarding its intellectual property, Apple made a big move by providing new APIs and services containing some of its more popular applications, including Maps, Siri and Messages. As developers create new functionalities using Appleā€™s platform, small business owners will soon see an abundance of innovative features that allow them to get more out of their limited time.
